simple pleasures

Enjoying the first issue of my subscription to Martha Stewart Living, (Thanks Mom and Dad!) and a slice of leftover birthday cake. Yesterday I turned 29 and of course had to have something chocolatey to celebrate. I have made this Chocolate Angel Food Cake many times and it turns out perfectly delicious everytime. The only change I make is to skip the dusting of powdered sugar and instead spread on a dollop of chocolate cool-whip instead. You really should try it! :)

Anyone have some ideas on what to do with a dozen egg yolks? I saved them when I made this cake with the whites yesterday. Vanilla pudding is the only thing I can think of or really yellow scrambled eggs.

You could make a bunch of egg noodles and dry or freeze them. Also, a pound cake uses lots of egg yokes! Wash your hair with them......supposed to be good for your hair :)

Happy Late Birthday, Darcy!!! Pound cake does use a lot of yolks and so does a plain yellow cake. You could also make pudding and add shredded coconut and make coconut cream pies! Just some ideas. Hope you had a great birthday!!!

Happy Birthday, Darcy! The picture truly shows a simple pleasure...the cake looks tasty. I wonder if my issue of MSL is out in the mailbox right now (under a few inches of snow...)

I think that you can freeze egg yolks. Not sure how, exactly...maybe in plastic bags? Then you'd have single serving yolks.
