split pea soup
I made this split pea soup today for lunch and the jokes were flying while it was being made and eaten. I wish I would've captured the look on the kids faces when I served them their bowls. I just told them that it was an early Halloween meal and I'm pretty sure you can figure out what we called it! Surprisingly though everyone ate it and said that it was pretty good. Scott decided to be an Iron Chef judge while he ate his bowl and said that while the flavor is nice I need to work on the presentation. :) This is another new recipe that I will not be making again!

My husband's grandmother used to make this and he is NOT a fan of it! I've never tried it but my hubby's family is from the North and I'm from the South so maybe that's why? I've had a lot of pinto beans though! :o)
Blessings,
Julie
Pea soup was one thing (of many) that I would not eat as a kid... but now that I like peas (but not canned, blech!) I really like it :) But I have to agree with you, there is no way to serve it so it looks "pretty" I guess you could serve it in the dark. LOL
I actually like pea soup, I have no idea why, but I'm sure it is a aquired taste.
It's not pretty no matter who makes it!
