weekend in review

We met Scott's parents on Saturday to pick up Thomas and Elle. Two weeks was a long time for them to be gone! They had such a good time and it's been fun to hear about all of the things they did.

Yesterday was mostly sunny and warm so we spent most of the afternoon on the lake. Elle and Thomas both swam for awhile even though the water was cold. Ava even got in a little bit and was excited to go swimming like the big kids. When we got home Scott got a fire going on the patio and grilled up some hot dogs and brats. Grandpa Dale helped Thomas weld the tool he is using in the picture above. He was pretty excited about it. He's a pyromaniac you know. :)

Ava thought that she should help with the 'hot fire' too.

Thomas told her that her job could be to give him the logs. She was happy with that.

For dessert we roasted marshmallows and made smores using some of the dark chocolate Scott brought back from Switzerland. So good! We all agreed that we are going to save that particular chocolate for smores for the whole summer!
