2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temp.
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups M & M's (divided)
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Cream butter, sugar and vanilla together. Add eggs & combine.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda & salt. Add to butter mixture & stir together until just combined. Add 1 cup M & M's and the chocolate chips. Stir. Drop by spoonful on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten the tops of the cookies a little with your hand and then add a few M & M's to the top of each cookie (from the remaining 1/2 cup). Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes. Take them out of the oven when they just start to turn brown on the edges and remove from the pan to a cooling rack right away for a really soft cookie.
